Meryl Streep!

Hey! Here's what's up. Since one of my FAVORITE Actresses of all-time is, of course, The Marvelous Meryl Streep. I have decided to make todays Blog Post all about Meryl Streep!!!! As you guys all know, Meryl Streep broke the record in 2006 for most Oscar Nominations. Surpassing the late and great Katherine Hepburn. Meryl Streep has 14 nominations and will get her 15th this year!



Meryl Streep has one 2 Oscars. Her first was in 1980 for Kramer vs. Kramer. (an excellent film if I may add) She won best supporting actress for playong Joanna Kramer. A distraught mother trying to get custody over her son. And her second Oscar was for Sophies Choice in 1982. I have not seen this movie. But my friend Katie has and she said it was Amazing. Meryl won best Actress in a Leading Role for Sophies Choice.

After those 2 Oscars, She was nominated for performances, such as, Out of Africa, Adaptation, The Devil Wears Prada and many more.

Now all us Meryl Fans must unite and pray the Meryl gets her 15th Oscar nomination this year for Doubt. (we don't really have to wish because it will happen!) Lol!

Golden Globes on Sunday Night!

Hey! Here's what's up. So as we all know. The Golden Globes for the films of 2008 are coming on sunday and personally, I am VERY EXCITED! The Golden Globes have always been one of my favorite awards. The thing I like about the golden globes is that they ALSO honour the comedy movies of the year. Like Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express!

Slumdog Millionaire!

Hey! Here's what's up. Yesterday I had a big project I had to do for the whole day. So guess what? 2 posts in ONE DAY! Exciting, right? Ya I know. So anyways, last week I went to go see the Danny Boyle movie Slumdog Millionaire with my Mom, my sister, my brother and my sister's boyfriend. So we bought the tickets and watched.

Excellent film! It was a beautifully done by a fantastic director.

This movie starred Dev Patel. His character went onto the Indian Version of Who wants to be a Millionaire. Being in his teens and only a poor person from a Slum. The producers of the show suspect him of cheating after getting past the 16.000 ruppee. Jamal is then taken to a police station and he must tell the oficer hwo he got each of the questions right because of past experiances in life.

This movie is an amazing heart-warmin film with an outstanding cast. Great acting done by the younger kids. I think the cinematography in this movie was outstanding. The angles and shots were amazing.

Curious Case of Benjamin Button!

Hey! Here's whats up. Last night I went to go see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with my dad at the Empire Theatre in Kitchener! So we sat down and we started to watch it! It was fantastic. All of it flowed together nicely and It was filled with tons of of fantastic performances!

Taraji P Henson as Queenie was amazing! Her character was so real and a very motherly being. ALSO Cate Blanchett was pitch perfect for the role of Daisy. She could play old and young! And I think i will give ONE shout out to Brad pitt because I think he brought some good qualaties to the role.

I definately expect this movie to be huge at the oscars! It has all of the qualaties. Great screenplay, performances and technicals. Well here is the time in my movie reviews where I put down my nominations for the film. As you all know. This is my first Blog Movie Review. So about every week i will post a review for a movie. that I saw that week! And THEN I will put the oscar nominations it could get. Got it? o.k...

Hey homeslices. Lol. I know it's not that funny. Anyways. Here's whats up. The Critics season is upon us and many people are getting loads of recognition for there different roles. Including Meryl Streep for Doubt. Sally Hawkins for Happy Go-Lucky and of course, The One and ONLY........... Heath Ledger for his role as The Joker in 2008's The Dark Knight.Anyways. Do you want to know some of the latest critics awards? Well her is 1 critics awards that you might find interesting. Notice my notes in brackets.

New York Film Critics Circle

Best Actress- Sally Hawkins- Happy-Go-Lucky (I saw the film. It was a good performance but not THAT good)

Best Screenplay- Jenny Lumet Rachel- Getting Married ( I read the script. Hilarious and sad. great job Jenny)

Best Cinematographer- Anthony Dod Mantle- Slumdog Millionaire ( Once again i saw the movie. Most people don't mention it but this movie had great Cinematography. the shots were fantastic)

Best Supporting Actor- Josh Brolin- Milk (I I havn't seen the movie. But as you notice, it is not Heath Ledger. Shocker? I think not. Josh Brolin had early buzz for this film and he has to keep his momentum going for a nomination)

Best Animated Film- WALL-E ( not a shock at all)

Best Director- Mike Leigh- Happy-Go-Lucky ( a great film by a great director. Deserves it.)

Best Supporting Actress- Penelope Cruz- Vicky Cristina Barcelona ( once again. Not a shock.)

Best First Film- Courtney Hunt- Frozen River ( Froxen river is one of the most hyped indie films of this year. Expect a nomination for it's lead. Mellisa Leo)

Best Foreign Film- 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days ( I would have of the Isreali Film Waltz with Bashir. But this is good too)

Best Actor Sean Penn- Milk (i expect an OSCAR!)

Best Non-Fiction Film (Documentary-) Man on Wire ( I saw it. One of the most exciting Docs ever!)

Best Picture- Milk ( No shock. a BIG CONTENDER)

Welcome!!!!

Welcome to Oscar Buzz!! this is my first post! Well first off I will tell you what is happening in the Oscar World right now. The Globes were just announced and a huge shocker came forth. (well not huge but.... you know what I meen) Well. The Reader, starring Ralph Feinnes and Kate Winslet took a best Drama Picture Nod instead of the WIDELY ACCLAIMED Milk. Although some people may be dissapointed by this poor choice it managed to get a nomination for Best Lead Actor in a Drama which is exciting for Sean Penn who played Harvey Milk. The SAG Nominations are up also. Richard Jenkins, Who is getting wide acclaim for his role in the Visitor, scored a nomination which will help him alot to try and obtain an oscar nomination.

Also. this is the season of CRITICS AWARDS! Dumm dum dum dummmmmmm. In the NEXT POST of my blog I will tell you some of the Critics Awards. SEE YA LATER!
